The Coastline

Skala Eressos is called the beach of Eressos, where “Skala” means “boat mooring area”. The village has two access roads, one to the north and one to the west. Both lead to the central square, which is paved with stone slabs. On the outskirts of the village there are several large parking lots that can accommodate guests’ cars.

The volcanic nature of the west side of Lesvos appears in the silver color of the sandy beach, which extends for about three kilometers from the small harbor to the east until its west end. The beach of Skala Eressos has a Blue Flag for its crystal clear waters.

You can find very rare ouzo brands from the island’s local distilleries and fresh fish in the taverns.

Skala has a pharmacy, a medical office, restaurants, cocktail bars, a movie theater and car rental agencies. You can also visit the Museum with the archaeological finds and the ancient Acropolis at the top of the “vigla” as the hill above the harbor is called. Eresos receives a large number of visitors every summer.

Skala Eressos offers many types of alternative summer events such as concerts, beach tai-chi lessons, reiki, shiatsu and Ayurvedic massages.

The “Women’s Festival” which takes place every September attracts women from all over the world.
